The mid-cycle facelift of the Kia Sorento has been revealed in South Korea. It dons a new look with design cues that are reminiscent of the Kia EV9 which was launched by the Korean car brand back in May this year.

On the updated seven-seater model’s front end are a pair of new T-shaped daytime running lamps that flanks a more compact-looking grille. The lower front bumper and its vent also get a sleeker look as the LED front fog lamps were tucked further inwards into its slats.
From the side, the crossover didn’t get changes at all, save for its new set of wheels. Meanwhile, its rear portion gets a pair of revised LED taillights with new lighting elements. Its faux rear diffuser also looks beefier, though its tailgate retains the same hexagonal shape and angular look.
Over to the interior, the most notable change is that the central air-conditioning vents were shrunk down to a more minimalist horizontal bar. The side vents though, have retained their chunky hexagonal shapes. The controls for the air-conditioning were also shrunk down to a line of capacitive buttons, while the old shift-lever was ditched in favor of a rotary gear selector.
Not much changed on its side section, but the rear received some changes
A larger unit also replaced the old 8-inch touchscreen. Its digital gauge cluster meanwhile, is now integrated seamlessly into the central screen. The latter allows for a new dashboard that’s far slimmer than the outgoing Sorento’s.
For now, what was revealed by Kia is limited to the design of the vehicle. There are no specs or a full features list yet but we can expect that those will come out once it launches globally in August 2023.
Currently, the Philippine-spec model exclusively uses a 2.2-liter CRDi inline-4 (diesel) engine that can churn out 199 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
