Abarth vehicles are known to be some of the highest performing and most powerful race vehicles in history. Small and agile like a Scorpion, Abarth’s performance modified cars achieved success in every competition. The legendary brand from Turin, Italy was founded by a champion motorcycle and race car driver, Carl Abarth.
In 1949, he established Abarth & C with Guido Scagliarini producing their first ever vehicle, the 204 A Roadster which is based on the FIAT 1100. As one of the fastest cars in the world at the time, it immediately won the 1100 Sport Championship as well as Formula 2. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Abarth brand continuously made a name for itself in the global automotive industry as the synonym for sport, tuning, and performance. Through decades, the brand has made a dent in the world of sports cars through its unique DNA, driving pleasure, and athletic appeal.
The company was acquired by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles FCA in July 1971, giving the Italian race car manufacturer the privilege to become Fiat’s official race car subsidiary. At present, it preserves and champions the history of the Scorpion marque by producing quality and high-performance nameplates around the world. Currently offered globally are three nameplates which are the 124, the 595, and the 695.
In the Philippines, Abarth cars is exclusively distributed by Petromax Enterprises, the same company that brought in Alfa Romero. The Italian brand was launched in October 2018, adding to the rich portfolio of European brands in the country. During its first introduction came two variants that carry the iconic scorpion badge- the Abarth 595 and the Abarth 695. The former comes in seven variants while the latter has two available selections.
At present, the Abarth showroom is located in Petromax Enterprises’ office itself at Bonaventure Plaza in San Juan City.
