The Avanza comes with an all-new design inside and out. It gets a heavily revamped exterior styling that features a bolder and more aggressive look. The Avanza’s new front end now looks more angular as compared to the old model. It has LED headlights, fog lights, and a sharp-looking bumper.
The 2022 Toyota Avanza’s side profile has a crisp character line that makes it more assertive than the outgoing model. The top-spec variant is equipped with power-folding side mirrors, and it rides on a set of new 16-inch alloy wheels.

The design changes are also evident when you look at the rear. It is fitted with restyled taillights, a spoiler, and a new bumper design.
Step inside the cabin, the Avanza is integrated with an updated dashboard layout. Yes, there’s still a lot of hard plastic materials in the interior but that’s expected considering how other Toyota models are designed. What’s good is that Toyota added texture to the dashboard to make the overall interior look a notch higher.
The Avanza features a revamped dashboard layout
Placed right at the center of the dashboard is the eight-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen also serves as the monitor of the reverse camera.
Toyota’s compact MPV also comes with a revamped steering wheel design, which now looks sleeker as compared to the old one that has a bulging finish. Of note, the top-spec Toyota Avanza G comes with a tilt & telescopic adjustment.
The all-new Toyota Avanza comes with fabric seats
Fabric seats with black and brown two-tone accents are standard across all 2022 Toyota Avanza variants. This MPV can accommodate up to seven individuals, and comes with what Toyota calls a long-sofa seating configuration. The first row seats of the Avanza can be folded back to link with the second-row seats. Also, the second-row seats can be folded to the front to provide a long sofa-like space for the third-row seats.
Powering the 2022 Toyota Avanza is a choice of either a 1.3-liter or a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine. The 1.3-liter power unit can produce 97 hp and 122 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter gasoline, on the other hand, is exclusively available to the top-spec Avanza G. It can generate 105 hp and 138 Nm. The engine can be connected to either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
