The Toyota Corolla Cross is essentially the crossover version of the Corolla Altis. It shares the same TNGA-C platform as its sedan brother, and it has the same selection of powertrains at least for the local market.
Currently, there are two available variants for the Corolla Cross. The entry-level variant is the Corolla Cross G 1.8 CVT and it has a price tag of Php 1,318,000. The top-spec model meanwhile is the Corolla Cross Hybrid V 1.8 CVT, which can be had for Php 1,680,000. Later in 2023, Toyota PH then added the Corolla Cross GR-S, which is priced at Php 1,844,000.
The Philippine-spec Corolla Cross has two available engine options. For the G-trim, it uses a 1.8-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that can produce up to 138 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. The V-trim and GR-S in turn both use a 1.8-liter hybrid engine capable of making up to 120 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque. All variants are front-wheel-drive, and all use a continuously variable transmission.
Size-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross measures 4,460mm in length, 1,825mm in width, and 1,620mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,640mm, and a ground clearance of 161 mm.
Locally, this Toyota-made crossover competes against the likes of the Subaru XV, the Honda HR-V, Ford Territory, Kia Seltos, and the Mazda CX-30.
Launch
The Toyota Corolla Cross made its world debut in Thailand. It features Toyota’s TNGA that’s similar to the Corolla Altis. Toyota Motor Philippines launched the all-new Corolla Cross since the crossover segment in the country is growing and there’s a high demand for this type of vehicle. As such, the Philippine-spec Corolla Cross is available in two variants, 1.8L G CVT and 1.8L V HV. The base G CVT model is powered by a 1.8L gasoline engine while the top-spec trim V HV comes with a hybrid power unit. It had a starting price of Php 1,285,000 for the gasoline-powered Corolla Cross while the Hybrid version at launch, had a price of Php 1,650,000.
The all-new Corolla Cross is part of the new models offered by Toyota Motor Philippines. Previously, the company launched the new Wigo as well as the facelifted Vios.
Later in 2022, TMP launched the Corolla Cross GR-S. A sportier-looking version of the said crossover, which also has some new features.

Toyota Motor Philippines says the Corolla Cross is designed to be a stylish urban vehicle that combines Toyota’s signature “QDR” (quality, durability, and reliability) with style and functionality. Aside from the hybrid technology, the Corolla Cross also features two of Toyota’s most advanced car technologies today, the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).
Overall, this crossover is sized smaller than the RAV4 but it’s relatively longer and wider as compared to the Rush. The Corolla Cross’ exterior starts strong with its imposing double trapezoid front grille which gives the vehicle a wide and stable appearance. Exclusive to the hybrid variant is the LED daytime running lights and a subtle blue accent to the bi-beam LED headlamps.
It also comes with sharp character lines, wide fender flares, and a stylish set of alloy wheels. Aside from having a bold and sleek exterior, Toyota also wants to make the Corolla Cross as versatile as it can be. To prove that point, Toyota equipped this crossover with black claddings that extend from the front, side, and all the way to the rear. Toyota’s new crossover also comes with wraparound taillights and a roof spoiler.
Toyota Corolla Cross Interior
The interior of the Philippine-spec Corolla Cross comes with a dark cabin theme. The top-spec V HV variant is equipped with an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen that’s integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Leather seats are also equipped in the top-spec hybrid variant while pure gasoline-powered Corolla Cross has fabric seats.
The new GR-S trim introduced in 2022 adds on to those with several Gazoo Racing badges. Some are found on the vehicle's head rests, floor mats, and even on the push-to-start button.
At maximum, the Corolla Cross can accommodate up to five individuals. It also comes with a spacious cargo space at the back. Of note, both variants come with a push start system and speed-sensing door locks. TMP added that the Corolla Cross is designed with large door openings that make entering or exiting the vehicle easy even when you’re carrying a child. Other notable interior features of the Corolla Cross is the dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, adaptive cruise control, among others.
The new Corolla Cross GR-S also recieved a kick-operated power tailgate.
Technology & Safety Features
The Japanese carmaker equipped the Toyota Corolla Cross with the following tech features: internet connectivity options, Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver's seats, and digital instrument display.
In terms of safety, the new crossover features radar-based cruise control, lane departure warning, seven airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake assist, stability control with traction control. Of note, both variants come with a reverse camera.
Platform & Chassis
Toyota Corolla Cross Philippines is a five-door compact crossover that features the brand’s TNGA platform as its underpinning. It can accommodate five occupants with a length of 4,460 mm, a width of 1,825 mm, and a height of 1,620 mm, a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. It also has a ground clearance of 161 mm.
The suspension system of the Toyota Corolla Cross is composed of MacPherson strut and a Torsion beam for the front and rear, respectively. The stopping power is delivered by ventilated discs for the front and solid discs for the rear.
The all-new Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S was also given suspension upgrades. According to Toyota, it can provide better ride comfort, as well as more stability.

Under the hood, the Corolla Cross is powered by a 1.8-liter engine. The G variant is equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that delivers 138 hp and 172 Nm of torque. The V Hybrid and the GR-S variant are powered by a 1.8-liter gasoline hybrid engine that generates a maximum power output of 120 hp and 142 Nm of torque. The top-spec Corolla Cross trims also come with three driving modes: Eco, Power, and EV. Both variants come with a continuously variable transmission.
