2. About Mitsubishi Philippines
History of Mitsubishi Brand
Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer. It is a part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries located at Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It ranks as the 16th biggest car manufacturer globally. Mitsubishi started to be partly owned by Nissan (34%) in 2016. It makes the Japanese car company a part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
In 1917, the Mitsubishi was built. It was the time when the Mitsubishi Model A was released by the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The vehicle was their first-ever automobile. Mitsubishi Aircraft Co. and Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. merged and became known as the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
The company is popular in building railroad vehicles, aircraft, ships, machinery. In 1937, MHI was able to develop PX33 - its prototype sedan for military utilization.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries started to manufacture cars again after World War II. Some of the first vehicles manufactured during that time were the Silver Pigeon, Mizushima, and Fuso bus. In 1950, MHI was divided into three regional companies: Central Japan Heavy Industries, East Japan Heavy Industries, and West Japan Heavy Industries.
The focus of each region was on the development of the motor vehicle. The three companies rejoined again in 1964 as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In 1970, the company was renamed Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

The Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is the local distributor of the Japanese carmaker in the Philippines. MMPC is one of the company’s manufacturing facilities outside of Japan. It is situated at Sta. Rosa, Laguna. MMPC was initially known as Chrysler Philippines Corporation.
For 55 years, the Mitsubishi Philippines has worked hand-in-hand with the government to sustain the automotive industry. Also, MMPC acted as a responsible company by initiating social and environmental activities under its Corporate Social Responsibility program.
Some Mitsubishi vehicles and models were manufactured from their site in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
