The Hyundai Kona 2023 is a subcompact crossover brought in by the Korean marque. It is available in the Philippines in one variant only which is priced at Php 1,188,000. Powering this vehicle is a 2.0-liter NU MPI Atkinson gasoline engine capable of generating 147 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque. Only a 6-speed automatic transmission is used to drive the power from the engine to the front wheels exclusively.
In terms of dimensions, the Kona has a length of 4,165 mm, a width of 1,800 mm, and a height of 1,550 mm. Additionally, it comes with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,600 mm and 170 mm, respectively. In the local market, this Korean subcompact crossover goes up against the likes of the Mazda CX-3, Kia Seltos, and Geely Coolray.
Launch
The Hyundai Kona first made its global debut in June 2017. This hip and trendy subcompact crossover got its name from a western area in the islands of Hawaii. The Kona 2023 is a vehicle that’s meant to target car buyers who are looking for a unique and stylish subcompact crossover. It was awarded as the “North American Utility Vehicle of the Year” in the North American International Auto Show last 2019.
The Hyundai Kona made its Philippine debut at the 2018 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), and it was made available in the market a month after its local launch. The Kona is Hyundai Philippines’ challenger in the subcompact crossover segment. Hyundai Philippines is currently offering the Kona with a sticker price of Php 1,188,000.

Hyundai Kona Exterior
The new Hyundai Kona comes with a low and wide stance. It also has a striking exterior that makes it one of the unique-looking vehicles in the Philippines today. The Kona subcompact crossover is fitted with slim LED daytime running lights that are placed near the vehicle’s hood. It also has a mesh cascading grille, which adds to the overall striking fascia of the vehicle.
The Kona 2023 is integrated with black claddings that make its side profile have more character. The sharp character lines on the side add more to the distinctive appeal of the Hyundai Kona. At the rear, this subcompact crossover gets wraparound taillights, a large bumper, and a roof spoiler with third brake light. It is finished off with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Hyundai Kona Interior
The interior of the Hyundai Kona comes with a dark theme, and a straightforward layout. It has a floating-type infotainment system that’s integrated with AUX, USB, and Bluetooth. The audio is then transferred to the Kona’s six-speaker setup. The new Kona also has fabric seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, rear aircon vents, power windows, power door locks, power side mirrors, among others. It can accommodate up to five individuals.

The new Hyundai Kona is equipped with a push-start button, keyless entry, speed-sensing door locks, power-adjusted side mirrors, and cruise control. Entertainment is provided by an infotainment system with mono LCD. It can be connected through AUX, USB, and Bluetooth. Providing sound inside the cabin is six speakers.
In terms of safety, this subcompact crossover is fitted with a good number of airbags, seat belt reminder at the front, tire pressure monitor, an anti-lock braking system, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The new Hyundai Kona features a front-wheel-drive layout. It is equipped with a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam axle at the rear. Braking is assisted by ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the back.
