ANCAP safety & crash testing a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro

The ANCAP comes with several test criteria to determine how safe a certain vehicle is, and the Tiggo 7 Pro posted good results across the four key areas of the safety assessment. The four key areas are the following: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assist.

Across the four key areas of ANCAP safety assessment, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro achieved:

- Adult Occupant Protection: 88%

- Child Occupant Protection: 87%

- Vulnerable Road User Protection: 72%

- Safety Assist: 86%

The Australian-spec Chery Tiggo 7 Pro comes standard with dual front airbags, side chest-protecting airbags, side head-protecting airbags covering first and second rows, and a driver knee airbag. It also has a center airbag that’s said to provide added protection to front-seat occupants in side impact crashes.

The abundant number of airbags offered 88 percent crash protection to adults while 87 percent to child occupants. However, ANCAP said that Chery could improve the Tiggo 7 Pro’s restraint design as it posted “Weak” scores for the chest protection of the driver during the frontal offset and oblique pole tests.

The Australian-spec Tiggo 7 Pro also comes with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), and emergency lane keeping (ELK), which are features not included in the PH-spec Tiggo 7 Pro (based on the spec sheet uploaded at Chery Auto PH website).

The Tiggo 7 Pro’s AEB showed “Good” levels of performance. The same rating was also given to the vehicle’s lane-keeping aid technology.  ANCAP shared that the Tiggo 7 Pro was able to react well to test roads including the unmarked road edge and test roads with dashed and solid line markings.
