This five-seater subcompact crossover continues to entice car buyers.

Kia Philippines reported that it had a good sales run last year, posting a 34 percent increase compared to its 2021 figures. The Ayala-backed car brand added that its growth rate in 2022 is the highest in the Asia Pacific region.

The said accomplishment arrived at the best timing as Kia Philippines is celebrating its fourth anniversary under Ayala Corporation. The announcement was made at Kia PH’s thanksgiving event which was attended by its dealer principals.

Leading the charge for Kia’s 2022 sales in the Philippines is the Stonic. A report by Carguide.ph stated that a total of 2,332 Stonic units rolled off Kia dealerships last year. This proves that the Stonic remains to be Kia PH’s best-performing model as it was also the top-selling vehicle from the Korean car brand last 2021.

The Kia Stonic is a five-seater subcompact crossover that was introduced in the local market last October 2020. Three Stonic variants were initially offered in the Philippines. By November 2021, Kia PH added the Stonic Style Edition which features new front and rear bumper extensions. It also has trim-exclusive side skirts and carries Kia’s new logo.

The Stonic Style Edition comes with a sticker price of Php 940,000. As such, Kia’s subcompact crossover is now available in four variants with a starting price of Php 835,000 while the top-spec trim retails at Php 990,000. One could more likely agree that the Stonic’s price point is one of the key factors on why it was able to entice car buyers in the Philippines.

All Kia Stonic variants are equipped with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, depending on the variant. The Stonic with a manual gearbox delivers 94 hp while the one with an automatic transmission produces 100 hp.

Coming in as the second best-selling Kia vehicle in the Philippines last 2022 is the Soluto with 914 units sold. The said vehicle is Kia’s challenger in the subcompact sedan segment. It is available in four variants with a starting price of Php 780,000.
