History

Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. or simply Lamborghini is an Italian luxury sports carmaker currently owned by the Volkswagen Group through Audi. Its visionary founder, Ferrucio Lamborghini initially opened a business assembling automobiles that are used for farming from military vehicles in 1946.

His company was a success producing tractors fitted with two to four-cylinder diesel engines. In 1954, a motor engine with direct injection was added to the lineup. In the 1960s, his venture was one of the biggest manufacturers of agricultural machinery producing 400 vehicles monthly.

As a successful entrepreneur, he enjoyed all the luxuries in life including fast cars. He is an avid collector of stunning automobiles produced by Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Maserati, and Ferrari. But as a businessman focused on producing engines and machinery, no luxury vehicle of that era satisfied him.

After buying a Ferrari 250 GT, he wanted to meet Enzo Ferrari as he is not happy with the car. Ferrari refused, and Lamborghini asked his engineer to disassemble the GT. Based on his preference, it utilized many standard parts. In 1963, he decided to establish Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Development

Through the years, Lamborghini has released iconic cars that dominated the market. Some of their notable models include the 3.5-liter V12 engine Lamborghini 350 GT that solidified their competition with Ferrari, the powerful Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera capable of releasing 562 horsepower through its 5.2-liter V8 engine, and the supercar Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota capable of 595 horsepower.
