Kia UK has unveiled a new Picanto trim called the Shadow special edition. It is an ideal choice for those car buyers who fancy a dark theme with the changes made on both the exterior and interior.

Out of the eight trims offered in the U.K. market, the new Kia Picanto Shadow is sitting two trims higher than the entry-level Picanto 1. It is based upon the ‘2’ trim which features a few upgrades. With that being said, the dark-themed Picanto is a vehicle that comes with a stylish finish that sort of shows the dark side of Kia’s subcompact hatchback.
The body is painted in premium Astro Grey metallic, an exterior color option that is available only in higher-spec trims including the X-Line and GT-Line. It is fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels (upgrade over 14-inch wheels), privacy glass, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and bi-function projector headlamps.
Moving to the interior, the black cloth upholstery from the lower trims is replaced with Shadow-exclusive black faux upholstery with light grey stitching, according to Kia. This upgrade creates a design continuity into the cabin. Other interior features include a six-speaker audio system (upgrade over a 4-speaker system), an 8-inch head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines.
Subtle updates were made here and there
Powering the Kia Picanto Shadow special edition is a 1.0-liter DPi (Dual-Port Injection) gasoline engine that is capable of generating 66 hp and 96 Nm of torque. It sends power exclusively to the front wheels via a 5-speed transmission only.
Included in the hatchback’s comfort and safety features are Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist City functionality, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Torque Vectoring by Braking technology.
The Kia Picanto Shadow special edition is now available for reservation across the brand’s U.K. dealers. Deliveries are due to commence in early 2022.
