The WWCOTY is now on its 13th edition. It’s an organization composed of 63 women motoring journalists from 45 countries. The team takes pride in being the only all-female award-giving body in the automotive industry.

WWCOTY said that this edition’s finalists are vehicles that represent “excellence” in their segments based on several factors. Jurors look into the vehicles’ safety, driving performance, comfort, technology, design, efficiency, impact on the environment, and value for money.

The all-female organization noted that it had a more difficult time assessing and judging the vehicle candidates. This is because all vehicles pose excellent quality as compared to previous years, according to WWCOTY.

All vehicles have been pitted to demanding driving tests, detailed analysis, and careful comparative assessments. From there, six cars stood out as the best in their respective category, and are now in the race to bring home the 2023 WWCOTY award.  Although, the WWCOTY did not share the runner-ups for each category.

The next-gen 2023 Ford Ranger is deemed the best 4x4 & Pickup. The WWCOTY said that the Ranger is a “reliable, stylish, and charismatic pickup [truck].” It goes on by saying that the next-gen Ranger “moves with ease over any terrain … [and] it’s as efficient as an off-roaded.” The jurors also find the Ranger’s cargo box practical.

The next-gen Ford Ranger debuted in the Philippines last July 2022. It comes with a more assertive look due to the matrix LED headlamps. The interior, on the other hand, looks modern with the integration of the 12-inch infotainment vertical touchscreen. The Ranger is still powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine. This power unit can come with either a single or bi turbos, depending on the variant.
