The next-generation Ford Ranger continues to charm the global market as it won the International Pickup Award (IPUA). This is the third time that the Ford Ranger won the award as it also clinched the IPUA in 2013 and 2020.
Next-gen Ford Ranger
The Ranger’s latest accolade was presented during a special ceremony at the Solutrans commercial vehicle show in Lyon, France. A jury of journalists from Europe and South Africa deemed the next-gen Ford Ranger a worthy truck to take home the 2023/2024 IPUA.
The jury conducted on- and off-road testing in Greece earlier this year, and it is said that the next-gen Ford Ranger’s performance won the judges’ votes. That said, the Ranger nameplate scored a hat trick as it won the IPUA for the third time.
“Ford has now scored a hat-trick in securing three International Pick-up Awards with its best-selling Ranger. This seventh running of the IPUA sees the sixth-generation Ranger adding to the titles won in 2013 and 2020. Congratulations to the global Ford development team on creating this exceptional vehicle,” said IPUA jury chair Jarlath Sweeney.
Next-Gen Ford Ranger scores a hat trick
Ford shared that the next-gen Ranger’s off-road ability as well as its refined on-road performance, and “unprecedented level of connectivity and technology” make the truck popular with “business and private users alike.”
“We are delighted that the Ford Ranger has been recognized by the IPUA jury for the third time. The new Ford Ranger has the most comprehensive series choice yet, offering customers the on-road refinement and off-road capability to suit work days and weekends. It’s built ready for work and play,” said Ford Pro Europe general manager Hans Schep.
In the Philippines, the next-gen Ford Ranger is also proving to be a popular pickup truck. The Ranger continues to be Ford Philippines’ top-selling vehicle with sales growing by 22 percent from a year ago to 9,113 vehicles sold.
For work and play
The Blue Oval brand added that the Ranger contributed a lot to its notable sales performance for the first nine months of 2023 (January to September) as the Ford Philippines recorded a 42 percent sales increase from a year ago to 23,091 vehicles sold. Ford PH offers extensive next-gen Ranger variants with retail prices starting at Php 1,249,000.
