The Chery Tiggo 5X sports a modern look with the brand’s signature “tiger-crouching front end” that features a grille with a textured pattern. It is accompanied with halogen headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and a pair of fog lamps. Conventional body lines on each side of the crossover add to its clean look. On the rear are LED taillights and a rear tailgate for cargo. Additional luggage can be loaded on the roof as it is equipped with a “load-bearing luggage roof rail.” The 5X AT and Luxury variants ride on 17-inch alloys while the base MT variant comes with 16-inch steelies.

All variants of the Chery Tiggo 5X come with leather-upholstered seats with varying styles throughout the lineup. The base BT and AT variants are wrapped in ergonomic leather woven material while the top-range Luxury variant comes in ergonomic luxury leather. Both types have a soft-touch feel that adds to the vehicle’s sophistication. Seats are equipped with 6-way adjustability on all variants with the top-spec variant receiving a powered driver’s seat.

The dashboard is clad in different materials and textures that provide contrast to the otherwise plain and straightforward design. On the roof of the Luxury variant is a powered sunroof for natural ventilation and light. At the rear is ample cargo space that is expected from a crossover. Rear seats can be folded to add more cargo space, should the need for it arise.

The Tiggo 5X Luxury and AT variants have the most tech and safety features, as expected. It is equipped with a push start button, keyless entry, cruise control, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, and an automatic climate control ventilation system. The infotainment system centers around a 9-inch HD capacitive touch screen with MirrorLink. It is hooked to a 4-speaker audio system that plays from Apple CarPlay or Andriod Auto. The Tiggo 5X also comes with steering wheel audio controls.

Meanwhile, the entry-level variant comes with a 4-speaker radio with USB connectivity, electronic intelligent control air-conditioning, and rear parking sensors.

The Chery Tiggo 5X rides on a unibody chassis with a ground clearance roughly 190mm. It is equipped with McPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam for the rear. Stopping power for the 5-seater subcompact crossover comes from disc brakes on all four wheels. All variants also come with Electronic Brake Distribution.

The subcompact crossover is powered by a 1.5L Borg-Warner D-VVT 16-valve 4-cylinder gasoline engine. It can produce 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels. Its engine is attached to two transmission options depending on the variant. The base variant comes with a 5-speed manual transmission while the AT and Luxury variants are attached to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Overall riding comfort is at par for its segment complemented with light steering that enables the vehicle to easily be maneuvered around the city.
